Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know which package is right for my event?
Well, are you looking for a complete bartending service, or do you just need trained and licensed bartender(s) at your event? Supercall and Lace packages are more complete services; you do less work and we make things happen.
The Dash package means we arrive with our tools, skills, and a smile to serve whatever you have prepared for us to serve… from whatever surface you are providing us to serve it from… in whatever vessels you’ve provided for us… at whatever temperature you’ve set it in… with the amount of ice you have secured.
Do I need to provide my own alcohol?
Yes. Colorado Liquor Laws does not allow bartending services to provide or carry alcohol. We can act as a liaison with a retailer to secure, deliver and pick up left over alcohol. You will pay the retailer directly. OR, we can create a list of what you’ll need to shop for once the drink menu is built.
Is it more expensive to have The Parlor arrange for the liquor to come through a retailer?
The Parlor does not upcharge on liquor. We have a long-time relationship with a local retailer that we trust. When we ask for a bid, you see the bid and all of the numbers and have total control over quantities and selection. And what’s lovely is they buy back things that are unopened that can go back on the shelves. There is a delivery and service fee that flexes depending on the event location.
It’s important to note here that, like us, this is a local business that is competitive in the local retail liquor store market. We do not, and will not, shop or recommend large chain or box stores for liquor.
What’s the difference between “Supercall,” “Lace,” and “Dash”?
The only difference between Supercall and Lace packages is whether we are bringing glassware or plastic cups. Dash is essentially bartending only services.
How many bartenders will I need for my guest count?
We recommend 1 bartender per 50 guests.
Is there a minimum booking fee?
Yes. $300.
What if my event runs longer than 4 hours?
We add an hourly rate (as listed) onto the baseline price to cover the costs of staff time and materials.
Can I customize what The Parlor provides vs. what I provide?
Yes. Within reason and with clear communication with contract adjustments during planning. Per person pricing may or may not change depending on what the items are. It is our duty to ensure that our Clients, Guests, and Staff are all safe and within the limits of law. It is our intention to provide the best service and experience and value to our Clients as well.
Do you offer non-alcoholic (spirit-free) options?
Absolutely! Our services ensure that all ages and all beverage needs can be met at the bar with the utmost respect and tasty options possible. Spirit Free doesn’t mean taste-free, curiosity-free, or experience-free!
Are glassware and disposable cups included in every package?
Glassware is included in the Supercall package.
Disposable cups are included in the Lace package.
Do you travel outside of Colorado Springs?
We do!
- For events outside El Paso County within 2 hours of Colorado Springs, we charge a travel fee that includes time and mileage.
- For events outside El Paso County beyond 2 hours of Colorado Springs, we charge a travel fee that includes time, mileage or airfare, and accommodations.
Is gratuity included in the package price?
Gratuity is not included in the package price. Gratuity is greatly appreciated by the bartenders and 100% of gratuity goes to the bartender(s) working the event. The options for factoring in Gratuity are listed in the event contract and decided prior to the event so there is no confusion.
Do you carry insurance and certifications?
Yes! And that is really the primary reason you should be hiring us if you are having an event and serving alcohol! Please remember, it is a controlled substance. While we add so much delight to an event, we also add the much more important elements of safety, professionalism and actual lawful service. We carry liquor liability insurance and all of our bartenders are trained by Casey Helm, Owner and TIPS Certified Trainer.
How far in advance should I book my event with The Parlor?
Right now! Okay, as soon as you have a venue and thought about catering/food in process. It’s not uncommon for requests to come in at the last minute and we do what we can to accommodate them, but it’s not always possible. So, we recommend at least a month in advance. If your event is during a super busy event time, like wedding season or the holiday season, book earlier!
My caterer says they can have their staff bartender, why not just use them?
We offer 2 reasons.
- That staff member may or not be a trained professional bartender. It may be someone who has bartended once upon a time, or who can pour beverages in a cup. So, we suggest you ask – there is a difference between a banquet staff member and a trained, insured professional bartender.
- Each event vendor has a service and role at an event and when each vendor does what they are there to do, they shine!.
- DJ’s and musicians are best at entertainment; they shouldn’t bake the wedding cake.
- Caterers are best at munchies, bites and meals; they shouldn’t make the bouquets and wedding arches.
- The Parlor is best bartending and serving great drinks; we shouldn’t step up to the mic to entertain, nor bring the main dish!
There is a good chance each vendor can do many creative hospitality things, but we all do our very best work when we stick with our best services and work together at each event to make it the best experience!
It looks like it’s cheaper to hire a catering bartender, than to use your services. Why not just use them?
The packages we offer are quite competitive and the numbers are presented in one combined rate. Often, catering proposals have items broken up into different sections that add up in an a la carte style with staff, ice, cups, bartending kits (sometimes listed as inclusive as the items previously listed), decor/bar set up items, etc. When you add those items up separately, you’ll see The Parlor pricing is competitive indeed. And you have the benefit of all of our bar industry and planning services to work with!
